Sweet Home Alabama!

Monday, March 7th, 2005

It turns out that under Alabama State law it is illegal to “produce, distribute or otherwise sell sexual devices that are marketed primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs.” Yes, vibrators are illegal in Alabama, and the law is actually enforced. Those you who have seen the men in Alabama realize what a tragedy this truly is.

I can just imagine that fateful day in the Alabama State Legislature.

“My esteemed colleagues, to what social ill shall we address ourselves today? Our beloved State has some of the lowest educational standards, one of highest unemployment rates and one of the highest rates of both adult and child poverty in the nation. We owe ourselves and our children better than this. I propose we outlaw dildos.”

The Ten Commandments are back in the Supreme Court.

The case revolves around a ten foot high monument of the Ten Commandments constructed at the Texas (where else?) state courthouse. Yesterday opponents argued that “such monuments are an endorsement of Christianity.”

It blows my mind that no one seems to know that the Ten Commandments appear in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Of course, if people took the time to learn about other religions this nonsense would probably never occur in the first place.
